Letter #18 - Georgia

April 24, 2017

Hello Family and Friends!

It is another lovely warm day here in Brunswick. This week we struggled a bit to find more success, but I have been learning a lot in other things! When I came to Brunswick, Georgia, the people were different, and thats ok. But I thought that everyone here in my mission was different and thats not the case. The more I learn about sister williams last area, it was so opposite from this one! haha. But the gospel is still the same anywhere you go. That is such a blessing. We still get to invite everyone to find more peace in their lives and to grow their relationship with Heavenly Father. We can each find joy in the journey.
When people are looking for more truth in their lives they will find a way to live the commandments, such as coming to church. When investigators do come to church, they find that true peace and rest that their spirits have been searching for, because they can feel the love of christ.
Prayer is so amazing and we can always recieve an answer from our Heavenly Father about our sincere questions. I am so grateful to know he loves me. The gospel library has so many resources to any question! I love it!
Saturday we got to help Darlene start her family history. She is eager to start getting family names together like deceased siblings and parents and take them to the temple to be proxy batpized! Her faith grows more every week.

Love y'all,

Sister Prue

Letter #17 - An Island Life

April 17, 2017

Hey Y'all!

Today we were on St Simons island and had a lot of fun. Sister Williams and I found a lot of investigators and now we just need to bring the members to them so they will want to come to church! Easter may have past now, but it doesn't mean we are done remembering Jesus Christ and his love for us. When we understand how much he loves us, we want to share this joy with others. Many people think they cannot be redeemed from past mistakes, but this is not true. When we ask for forgiveness and then CHANGE, and then be baptized by PRIESTHOOD authority, we enter the gates of salvation. We cannot earn happiness without working for it. But when  we ask for help, and accept the atonment of our savior, that is when the real work begins. If you are looking for more Joy in your life. Pray to Heavenly Father about what you can do, then Do it! Just like working physical muscle, it will take time and effort for our spiritual muscles to grow, but we WILL get stronger and find more abilities and satisfaction in our lives. The Elders had a baptism for Laura this weekend and I gave the talk on baptism.

Letter #16 - Transitions

April 10, 2017

Hello family and friends!

It's been another crazy week. Transfers happened, and I got a new companion, sister Williams! She is really nice and we get along :) Yay! She is from Pheonix, Arizona. She is one transfer farther along than I am, so we are putting our heads together to figure out how we even do missionary work, haha. Our recent convert gave me some interesting presents... check out the pictures :D Half of our district transfered out, so there is a lot of change, but everything has gone smoothly lately. Church was really great, so many people who don't usually come, came! And the ward bore really great testimonies. Darlene's daughter came and brought her non member daughter, but she really felt the spirit. We cleaned up Hilliard for a service project, which is actually in Florida, and got an I love Hilliard t-shirt. Thanks to everyone who has been writing to me, it makes my day. Hard work is rewarding, and it's so joyous to see the results. When your world expands, it's easier to see the blessings you have, and I'm sure thankful for all the things my Heavenly Father has given me. I know he is helping me so much, and going to take me to the places I need to be. As you let your world expand, you will also start seeing the love your Heavenly Father has for you. As long as we keep moving forward and turn to our savior Jesus Christ for help, we will be able to become the people we need to be in the long run.
Love,

Letter #15 - Member Missionaries

April 3, 2017

Hello Friends and Family!

I dont have a lot of time to write this week, but I thought I would share something from studying Preach My Gospel:
Members who engage in missionary work find joy in their lives. Wow. If I was a member of the church and I wanted to find more happiness, this would surely be the thing to do!
Im staying in Brunswick this transfer and getting a new companion! Too bad Im leaving sister Elwell, but in change i can find more growth. I know as we seek the guidance from God and put in every effort to follow his commandments we CAN find peace and joy. General Conference was great. Watch it if you havent yet. We are sharing the #princeofpeace videos as missionaries, and you can too! Its on mormon.org
Jacob 5:71
Go to, and labor in the vineyard, with your might. For behold, this is the last time that I shall nourish my vineyard; for the end is nigh at hand, and the season speedily cometh; and if ye labor with your might with me ye shall have joy in the fruit which I shall lay up unto myself against the time which will soon come.

Letter #14 - Conversion

March 27, 2017

Hello Family and Friends!

I had my first baptism this past weekend, Hurrah! I can testify that conversion to the gospel does not come from what we teach, but what the spirit teaches. People learn how to become more like Jesus Christ as they follow the promptings of the spirit. We've had Women's Conference so far as the start of General Conference, where living apostles and our prophet get to speak to the church and even to the world. I have felt a lot of the love Heavenly Father has for me lately, and even though I don't have all the answers to my questions, I know he is guiding me to where I need to be. Transfers are going to happen in a week and a half. We will find out what changes will happen this Friday. We are also having a surprise Zone Conference, the 2nd one this month on Friday as well. General Conference saturday and sunday, so we can expect a crazy week this week. Last p-day Sister Elwell and I went to St Simons Island, and today we went to Jekyll Island. We got to see some sea turtles and it was cute. We went with Sister Mckay and Sister Hoge. Missionary life is simply so different every day!
Remember to take the opportunity to pray about a question for general conference, so you can be prepared for a revelatory experience! You can watch on byutv, lds.org, or some of your local churches. Yes. Find your relationship with God.

Letter #13 - I Love Palm Trees

March 20, 2017

Hi everyone!

A lot has happened this week….
Due to the nature of my shoes and the sunshine, i am getting striped feet! There are crazy tan lines on my feet haha. One of the Elders from my district went home last week due to health problems, and it was sad to see him leave. But we know Heavenly Father has a plan for him, and we hope he gets to come back eventually. My companion and I got to teach many wonderful people this week. We met this girl who didn't have any religious background but she was willing to learn more, and when she said a prayer for the first time, she got teary eyed and then we left. We met this chinese woman (Maria) who had a grandma who believed in God when she was a little girl. We got to come into her home and teach her and her husband about their Loving Heavenly Father. We taught them to pray and Maria said she felt power. We gave them a Book of Mormon to read and invited them to pray everyday. Sister Elwell and I are so excited.

We have a baptism coming up this saturday! My first one! Her name is Darlene and she has been investigating for a few months now. Yesterday she brought her grandson to church and we are really excited to see him start coming as well. She is really allowing the love and peace of this gospel to come into her life. As members it is important to be very welcoming and loving to those who visit or are new to the ward. They need to know for themselves this gospel is real and that people actually live the teachings and find the joy that comes from it. As we share the love of God with others we will be enabled to overcome our trials that bring us down and be lifted up by the atonement of christ.

We ate dinner and celebrated St Patricks Day at the Palmers this week. I ate Corn Beef, Collared Greens, and key lime cake! Southern! We had pot luck after church, we had ward conference this past sunday. I ate a Krispy Kreme Donut.

Always remember that you are a child of God. Heavenly Father loves you and will able to bless you more as you strive to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Just as Jesus looked around for those who needed his compassion, let us look around and share the joy of Jesus Christ and be strengthened by His love for us.

Letter #12 -I'm chosen by a Southern Prophetess

March 13, 2017

Family and Friends,

We've had all kinds of great and weird experiences! We were able to gain the trust of a less active member. We were able to start gaining more trust from the members and ward council. We met all kinds of people, including ones who think they are prophets and can read your mind..... But I know that Heavenly Father is always aware of us and our needs! As we take courage to follow the promptings of the spirit, great blessings and miracles will come about. Others will help us in our journey. We are always strong enough when we lean on the Savior and rely on his strength. When you take the time to get to know and listen to others, they will want to give you their trust and you will be able to help them.

Love, Sister Prue
